We aim to develop annual events with the purpose of encouraging discourse between young academics and postgraduates. The Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Politics Conference, held at the Newcastle University Politics Department on May 24th 2008, is a precedent for future events, with its emphasis on workshop style discussions and interdisciplinary content. The keynote speech for each year’s event will act as an annual statement of intent for the journal. This year’s piece is written by Dr Martin Weber of University of Queensland.
